WoW Wednesday: Words from a New Deacon, Fallen Away Adult Children, Staying on the Sunny Side, and Potty Training

Sum sum summertime! It’s amazing what a big ol’ dollop of free time does for me. What a rush! Already we’ve ripped out dead bushes from our front yard, had new windows installed (to replace the original, 60+ year-old shards of glass we used to have), Andrew fixed a cabinet, and soon we’ll hang a new ceiling fan in the nursery. Yipee! Happy Wednesday everyone! Don’t forget to find Pope Francis’s weekly audience for the ultimate Words of Wisdom Wednesday!

A First Homily by freshly-ordained Deacon Mark Ostrowski
A friend of mine from Benedictine, Deacon Ostrowski was ordained to the diaconate just this past weekend! Congratulations MarkO! er…Deacon 🙂 His first homily covers the gravity of the simple phrase “Jesus is Lord.” A simple truth, so often said, is not as often believed or felt.

Help! My Children Aren’t Catholic Anymore! by Fr. Dwight Longenecker at Patheos
Fr. Longenecker mulls over what leads a cradle Catholic to “fall away” and how it can be prevented. As a parent who loves the Catholic faith, this post addresses one of my biggest fears.

Beautiful Things by Alzbeta Volk at The Volk’s Wagon
Alzbeta is a truly wholesome person and her approach to life in general is pretty motivating. In this post, she was having a particularly challenging day, but chose to turn her perspective around. Foregoing stuck-in-the-mud lamenting, Alzbeta wrote about what was going right.

Potty Training – A Full Version by Lindsay at My Child I Love You
My sister’s friend Lindsay has a blog devoted to her children. Among posts written directly to them, she’s offered her take on Catholic wife-n-mommyhood as well. Since potty training is upon us, I found this post to be pretty thorough and instructive. Pass it on if you know someone who could use it!
