Oh St. Anthony! I’m so glad you brought light to him this week! This past weekend my husband and I attended a wedding out of state and were informed that it was in an upscale neighborhood. I was filled with excitement at the chance to get all dressed up but was missing earrings to fit the occasion. It wasn’t until my very good friend, who just happens to make vintage jewelry pieces for a living, offered me a gorgeous pair that went with my dress perfectly! I was so grateful. I made sure to take VERY good care of them and hardly let them out of my sight. When we were packing to leave I grabbed the earrings and placed them in a container my husband got me as a wedding gift and tucked them safely in my suitcase.

On the ride home I became very ill. I had felt that I was coming down with something the day we left but thankfully it didn’t catch up with me until the weekend had passed. After the long 6 hour drive home I officially had the flu and was bed ridden. My wonderful husband took care of me and unpacked all of our belongings, however. I asked him to let me take care of my suitcase so that I could be sure that everything went back where it belongs. It took me til yesterday to unpack and when I did I noticed that my jewelry stand needed some attention. When I finished organizing it I quickly realized that I was missing my friend’s earrings. I was in shock! I took such great care of them. How could they go missing? I searched everywhere! I called the hotel, called the family who was with us on our trip, searched the laundry, and shook every clothing item I brought with me and still nothing. I was beside myself.

I immediately began praying to St. Anthony. Throughout the day I would continue looking and continued praying but still nothing came up. I was babysitting for my friend’s children the following day and knew I would have to tell her I lost them. The more I thought about this the harder I began to pray. My husband came home and immediately began helping me look and we both said a prayer to St. Anthony. Within seconds he asked me to stop looking and was holding the missing earrings. I just about screamed with excitement! They were in the container that he had given me for our wedding and the reason I never looked was because I put that container in his suitcase, which he unpacked. My husband is much more careful with his belongings and I knew I could trust him with my gift and friend’s earrings. I know eventually I would’ve found them but I know it was St. Anthony who guided my husband to them before I had to tell my friend and look careless. I am so grateful that they are now back in her possession and even more grateful for the power of prayer and guidance of St. Anthony.
