Five Favorites (vol. 4)

I’m taking Hallie’s cue at Moxie Wife and relishing in life’s delights. Maybe it’s just me, but I think jabbering on and on about what is so great in life is a perfect way to praise God. Delighting in every little blessing lets Him know that I got the hint – He loves me 🙂 And this is how He’s showing it. Either through the thing itself or through giving me the presence of mind to catch on, it’s pretty neat to recognize. So let’s get on with it, shall we??

Graduation day from BC. Notice all her academic decor?? She is a SMART cookie.

1) This is my best friend Erin 🙂 She’s a baking psychologist. We became best friends our freshmen year at Benedictine, agreed to be each other’s bridesmaids whenever our weddings happened; and after graduation and big adventures took us on separate paths, we resolved to talk every morning while she commutes and I wrangle my little cowboys 🙂 Our friendship is defined by Jesus, You’ve Got Mail, cups of tea, calming each other in crises, and being hugely supportive from hundreds of miles away. There’s no sweeter baker or more compassionate psychologist out there, and hands down NO ONE who laughs at my hammy jokes the way she does. She’s the best sounding board and happy to go through life happy 🙂 Cheers to you, Erin Sue! I hope your Thursday is as wonderful as you are!

2) Tuesday Morning. Do you have a Tuesday Morning? Amazing, right? If I’m on a redecorating mission because I screwed up my last redecorating mission, Tuesday Morning is where I go. Unique and quality stuff on the cheap. Depending on your location, Tuesday Morning might even sell original artwork by local artists – mine sure does! What’s that you say? No Tuesday Morning for you? NO WORRIES – just shop online (click the logo). But if it’s a real shopping experience you seek, TJ Maxx, Marshall’s, and Ross are definitely in the same neighborhood and might be the place for you!

3) Globes n Clocks – if there’s anything I would love to collect, it’s globes. And one day, I’d LOVE a room that has a wall full of different clocks on it (separate from the Globe Room). There’s something so intellectual about globes that says, I’ll just sit here sipping Earl Grey musing on my world travels and abysmal understanding of the universe. My half birthday already came, but for my whole birthday, pass on the hint will you? 😉

Über Chic for Cheap: Free Fonts for a Hand Drawn Look. Love the dingbats listed.

4) Did somebody say FREE FONTS?? I’m following all sorts of people on Pinterest and I estimate that I’ve repinned about 200 FREE fonts lately. My first font fun came in making an anniversary card for Andrew and designing stationery for my mother-in-law’s birthday (she thought I ordered it!), followed by my graphic art about humility and Bl. Mother Teresa in Monday’s post. Seriously, combine a few good fonts and bada bing! a unique look that steers clear of Times New Roman and the ever-hackneyed Curlz. The fonts are easy to download and after you install them, they appear in the drop-down menu in your word processor (it’s great for Office Publisher!). Pinterest and I are tighter than tight now.

5) I read somewhere a year or two ago that if you want a room to be cozy and comfortable, just add more fabric. Toss pillows, carpet or area rugs, large couches, and curtains. I love curtains. Aside from a window or two lightly adorned with valances, the rest are draped with curtains of varying patterns. Putting new curtains up is sheer bliss and I get just giddy sitting at a window freshly fabric’d. (You guys are catching those puns, right?? Totally unintentional and I caught them AFTER I typed! Hilarious, I know.)

Happy Thursday! Praise God!
