5 years, 3 babies, & Thousands of Kisses Later

Today is our anniversary. Our 5th 🙂

Us-1According to For Your Marriage (a GEM of a website), we’re officially out of the newlywed category and starting our “middle years,” which should last us another 20 years or so til we’re empty nesters. That’s what “they” say anyway.

Marriage with Andrew has been God’s most marvelous blessing. 5 years ago, I beamed at my new husband unable to imagine a better man. He was hilarious and handsome and charming and romantic. How could there possibly be someone who loves my soul more than he did or who strove for holiness with more diligence? Who worked harder? Who had more patience?

But after the newness has faded and a handful of little years have passed, I’ve  found and encountered a better man; my husband 5 years ago pales in comparison to the husband I have now. I didn’t know it was possible for the Andrew who was the best suited for me to be even, um…bester? He has grown so much and carried me with him in our first impressionable years of marriage. I couldn’t be more humbled at the fact that God chose me to be his wife.

5 years of joys, sorrows, pain, and bliss flew by – the ones marked by novelty and firsts – and I imagine they’ll keep flying as long as we have little ones around. I want so much to take it all in slowly, however, to savor our sweet life. Truly, I’m glad to consider us more seasoned than we were even a year ago and certainly more than we were at the start.

We’re 5 years, 3 babies, and thousands of kisses into our Happily Ever After and I am in no rush.

Congratulations! We’re celebrating 28 years of marriage in July and I can tell you without any doubt that the best is yet to come…..so are the biggest challenges but by the grace of God you will grow stronger together because of them. God bless you and Andrew. (lovely beaming photo, by the way)
